I started school again last week, but Shannon is still on break. So of course I forced her to come to Chicago for the weekend to keep me company! We had tons of fun checking out new bars and coffee shops, but the highlight was definitely our trip to the Shedd Aquarium.
Living in a big city has it perks, one being that a lot of the museums offer state residents free days several times a month, the Shedd Aquarium has the free days listed on their site. The one downfall to the free day is that there are restrictions on what you’re allowed to see. So unfortunately that meant no otters (they are our favorite),sharks, or penguins.
Here are a few of the highlights from the trip.
GLITTER FISH! This fish looks like she is ready for a party. Shannon and I loved its fun scales that shimmered as they swam around.
The lighting in the aquarium isn’t exactly ideal for photo ops. These little seahorses all latched their tails to each other at the bottom of the tank. It was the weirdest thing, but after some reading I found out they aren’t the best swimmers so they prefer to just stay in one spot for as long as possible. Sounds a lot like Shannon and I on Sunday mornings.
We had so much fun taking advantage of one of the perks Chicago gives its people. We wish we could have seen a bit more of the aquarium, but we still got to go to a lot of exhibits for the best price, free!
If you are in the area, heres a link to other free days at the Shedd! Does your city offer any perks to its residents?
